A PIONEER GONE

Our esteemed citizen, John Carder, died at the home of his son, A. J. Carder, in this city last Friday after a short illness. Upon the occasion of his birthday recently, while playing with his grand children, he ran against a chair injuring one of his legs and blood poisoning set in resulting in his death as above stated. Mr. Carder was over 83 and well and favorably known in this city and county. His funeral Sunday from the Methodist church was well attended, as well as the interment in Prairie Chapel cemetery where he was laid bedside his dear wife. In addition to friends in the city, many from the country were present at both services to attest their regard for the family and their respect for the departed. D. G. Carder and family, and friends from Arkansas City, also attended the services.

CARD OF THANKS

We wish to extend our heartfelt thanks to our many friends and neighbors who rendered such sympathetic assistance to us during the sickness and after the death of our beloved father.
Mr. And Mrs. A. J. Carder.
