MRS. BUTCHER DEAD

Mrs John S. Butcher died at the family residence on East Bridge street Saturday night after a long and severe illness. In connection with her death the Daily News of Monday has the following. At about 11 o’clock last Saturday night all that was mortal of Mrs. J. S. Butcher passed away to the keeping of the Great Creator. Mrs. Butcher had been suffering for the past thirty years with stomach trouble, but the last sickness that finally led to her demise commenced about eight weeks ago. Mrs. Butcher was a devout Christian and her greatest pleasure and comfort in her life has been her many deeds of kindness in ministering to the wants of the needy the sick or afflicted. The deceased was the wife of J. S. Butcher and came from Kansas with her husband at the opening of Cherokee strip twelve years ago, settling on a farm in this vicinity, but moving to residence 449 east Bridge street, some seven years ago, where they have since resided. The surviving relatives are her husband, J. S. Butcher; two sisters, Mrs. Elisa Rahe, of Blackwell and Mrs. Miller, of Lamont; a brother Geo. Smith, of Belle Plaine, Kansas; and a niece, Mrs. Carrie Chambers, of Blackwell; to all of whom the sympathy of the community is extended in this sad hour of affliction. The funeral services were held at the residence this afternoon, Elder Williams of Ashton Kans., officiating, assisted by Rev Isom Roberts of the local Christian church. Interment at the Odd Fellows cemetery.
