Albert J Braly
BRALY-Died June 15, 1910 at his home on West Bridge Avenue, Albert J Braly. The cause of death was stricture or stranguistion of the bowels, which is thought to have been caused by eating ice cream. He was taken suddenly ill on Friday, June 10 and all his physicians and family could do for him brought no relief. He was born at Atchison, Kas. on March 10, 1867 and was consequently 43 years, 3 months and 5 days old. He leaves his widow and four children (Jessie, aged 15; Birdie aged 13; Hugh, aged 10 and Edna, aged 8) also his mother, Mrs Rhoda E Braly of Blackwell, a sister, Mrs May Ebert of Caldwell, Kan and three brothers, namely, Benj V and Edward C of Nardin and Walter M of Blackwell, besides other relatives and a host of friends to mourn. He had been a resident of Blackwell for a number of years and was known as a man of upright character, kindly disposition and fraternal feelings. He had been for many years an active member of the Baptist church and his face will be missed at its services. As a husband and father he was a man of unusual tenderness and forethought. As a friend he was faithful. As a business man he believed in and practiced the square deal. As a neighbor, he was always ready to help his fellows. His loss will be severly felt by a wide circle of acquaintances. He was a member of the MWA and Maceabees fraternities, carrying $1,000 insurance in each order and also a member of the carpenters union of Blackwell. Funeral on Friday at 10am at the Baptist church, services conducted by Rev HP Crego, pastor and in charge of the MWA from the church to the cemetery. [Another obit says that he lived in Brown county til 1892 when he came to Shawnee, Oklahoma. There he was married to Leona Davis. Came to Kay county in 1897 and lived in Blackwell the past ten years ]
