Thaylia Frances Pearson Boxley KAW CITY — Thaylia Frances Pearson Boxley, former longtime Kaw City and Shidler resident, died Monday, June 26, 2006, at Ponca City Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center. She was 91. A graveside service will be held Friday, June 30, at 10 a.m. at Grandview Cemetery in Kaw City with Ed Lobaugh, elder of Hartford Avenue Church of Christ, officiating, assisted by Brad Cassity. The family will receive friends at Grace Memorial Chapel Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thaylia Frances Pearson was born on Dec. 14, 1914, near Gray in Beaver County, the daughter of Arthur and Ruby Luton Pearson. She spent most of her childhood in Perryton, Texas, and graduated from Perryton High School in 1932. After high school, she attended Panhandle Agricultural and Mechanical College in Goodwell and graduated with a bachelor's degree in 1936. She taught in Pleasant Hill School and near Boise City before coming to Kaw City in 1937 to teach. On March 15, 1941, she married Harold Boxley in Duncan in Stephens County. They made their home in Kaw City where Mr. Boxley farmed various acreages in the area until they built their home on a ranch 3 1/2 miles north of Kaw City in 1952. Mrs. Boxley taught at Pleasant Ridge School for several years prior to returning to the classroom at Kaw City in 1956. She taught at Kaw City a total of 14 years and at Shidler for 1 1/2 years. From 1969 to 1974, they lived in Ponca City. Soon after returning to Kaw City, plans for Kaw Lake were realized and they moved their home to Shidler in 1976. She became a resident of Ponca City Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in 2003. Following her baptism at age 12, she was a faithful member of the Church of Christ in Kaw City, Ponca City and Shidler. She was a charter member of the Pioneer Genealogical Club in Ponca City. She enjoyed her family and friends. She also enjoyed doing genealogy, writing letters, making quilts and braiding rugs. She is survived by three daughters, Kay Weger and her husband Bill of Germany, Karen Lipperd and her husband Mike of Broken Arrow, and Janna Peters and her husband Lynn of Newkirk; five grandsons, Michael Lipperd of Moberly, Mo., Robert Lipperd of Houston, Texas, Scott Lipperd of Tulsa, Blaine Peters of Shidler, and Jordan Peters of Ponca City; three granddaughters, Courtney Weger Cantrell of Germany, Randy Peters Goulden of Bartlesville, and Kimberly Lipperd of Stillwater; five great-grandchildren, Jemma Lipperd and Zachary Lipperd of Moberly, Mo., Collyn Goulden and Joslyn Goulden of Bartlesville, and Gage Peters of Shidler; and three step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold in 1993; and her brother, Dale in 2005. Contributions may be made in her memory to the Kaw City Museum, Kaw City, 74641.
