FATAL ACCIDENT

At about nine o’clock last evening, as Fred Bower and wife and two other ladies were driving on Summit street in Arkansas City, the horse driven by the fire chief of the city, who had been called out by an alarm, collided with the carriage and Mrs. Bower was killed. None of the other occupants of the carriage were injured. Mrs. Bower was injured internally and died twenty minutes after the collision. The Bower family was well known in this city, having resided here in the early days, Mr. Bower being engaged in the butcher business. Their daughter was visiting the Dennis Mooney family here at the time of her mother’s death, and left this morning, accompanied by the Mooney family, for Arkansas City. – Ponca Courier
