Miss Beatty Dead

Miss Belle Beatty youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Beatty, died at the family residence on East Bridge street, at a little before midnight New Years eve. Belle had not been well for a year past, but only for the past 6 or 8 months has her condition been considered as hopeless. Her decline was gradual, as is the rule with the victims of the white plague, but she as well as the family were cognizant of the inevitable and were fully prepared. She hoped to be spared so that all the family could be with her Christmas eve, which was also her 18th birthday, and that hope was realized, but since then she failed very fast, her life going out just before the dawn of the new year. Belle has grown to young womanhood in our city, and was one of our brightest and best young ladies. She was popular with all and some of her dearest friends are people past the meridian of life. She was a consistent christian, and that fact in a measure mitigates the grief of the loved ones. In school, church and Sunday School she was loved and admired and those circles as well as the family will greatly miss her. The funeral was from the Baptist church at 2 p.m. Thursday afternoon conducted by Rev. Munger of that denomination, and interment was in the cemetery south of the city.
