Ona Irene Atnip

BLACKWELL — Ona Irene Atnip, resident of Blackwell, died Wednesday morning, Dec. 18, 2002, in Integris Bass Medical Center in Enid. She was 67.

A graveside service was scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20, in the Blackwell Cemetery with the Rev. Rick Longcrier of the First Baptist Church of Blackwell officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Roberts and Son Funeral Home.

Ona Irene Atnip was born July 10, 1935, the daughter of August and Maggie Miller Buesing. As a young girl, she moved to Blackwell with her family where she grew up and attended Blackwell public schools, graduating in 1953. Following her education, she was employed with Blackwell Zinc Company.

She married Lonnie Edwin Atnip Jr. on Nov. 13, 1959, in Blackwell where they settled. Following her marriage, she was a homemaker.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Blackwell, the Eastern Star, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, the genealogy club and the DUV. She worked for many years as a Blackwell Regional Hospital volunteer.

Survivors include a son, Clayton Atnip of Bellevue, Neb.; her mother; and a grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband on March 9, 2001, and her father.
