DIED

Alice America Athey, daughter of John T. and Amanda F. Sharp, was married June 8, 1886 to W. G. Athey. To this union three children were born, she united with the Christian church at the age of 17 and lived a consistent Christian until she departed this life May 25, 1900. Rather sad circumstances attended her death. She was living with her husband and family in the state of Missouri until a short time ago when they started for the more healthful climate of Oklahoma in an emigrant wagon, all thinking, no doubt, that this climate would relieve the wife and mother of the dread disease, consumption, which had been for some time ravaging her system. Having relatives about five miles north-east of Blackwell, the little family here found rest and shelter the latter part of last week, but just in time for the loved one to take her departure to that home not made with hands, that eternal resting place. The funeral was conducted at the school house five miles north of town by E. L. Day of the Christian church at 1 o’clock Monday. Interment is at the Blackwell cemetery. [Block 198 Lot 2 Space 3]
