OBITUARY Zelda
Williams Allen was born near Oakland City, Ind., Nov. 1, 1879 and departed
from this life May 16, 1901, with that dreaded disease, consumption. She
professed faith in Christ at the age of 15 and joined the G. B. church
of which she was a devoted member at the time of her death. She has always
lived the life of a true Christian and bore her suffering with meekness,
never murmured or complained, but often expressed a willingness to go
when the summons came. She knew every thing to the last and she had told
her aunt some days before her death, that if heaven was revealed to her
and she could not speak , she would point to it, and taking each member
of the family by the hand and bidding them good by she became so she could
not speak, and she lifted her hand and pointed one finger toward heaven
and gently let her hand fall over on her face and died with her finger
pointing up. She was married to Geo. B. Allen May 10, 1899. She leaves
a husband, father, mother and two brothers and a host of friends to mourn
her early death, but what is their loss is her gain. O what a blessed
assurance it is to die the death of the righteous. Her funeral was preached
at the residence by Rev. Delaplain after which the remains were followed
to the grave by a large procession of sorrowing friends and laid to rest
in the cemetery near town to await the resurrection morn. – E. D. |
