COURT HOUSE BURNED!

The Kay County Court House was Totally Destroyed by Fire at 4 O’clock this Morning.

Early this, (Thursday morning) word came over the telephone that the courthouse at Newkirk was burned. The fire originated under the stairway in the lower story, about four o’clock this morning, and it seems to be prevailing opinion at Newkirk that it was of incendiary origin. The county records are somewhat scattered but it is thought that the most of them if not all, are safe. The vault is still too hot to open and the damage cannot be told until this is opened and contents examined. The district court, which has been in session some time, was adjourned until Friday morning. The building was insured for $3,000.00, and the furniture for $300.00
