Last night at her home on south Ninth street. Mrs. J. A. Tabor entertained her pupils of the eighth grade of the puplic schools. During the evening games were played and refreshments served, and all departed for their homes, voting Mrs. Tabor a royal teacher and hostess. Prof. Fred Harris, principal of the Ponca City high school, left for his home near Quenemo, Kansas, this morning to remain during the summer vacation.

Wm. Ramey of Chandler, prominent stock man, is in the city, the guest of Dr. Shelmidine, and will remain for the buffalo hunt at the 101 ranch.

STRUCK GAS
At a depth of about five hundred feet, a light flow of gas was struck in the well of the Ponca City company today. The flow is sufficient to send up a flame ten feet high when touched with a lighted match. The surprising thing about the well is that in thw whole distance of over five hundred feet already reached no water at all has been struck. The indications are encouraging in all respects and it is confidently expected that plenty of gas will be found within the next three hundred feet.
