Milt Hinkle
Former Cowboy, Rodeo Performer With 101 Dies

Word has been received here of the death earlier this month of Milt Hinkle, 90, Kissimmee, Fla., a former 101 Ranch cowboy and a performer in its wild west show.

Hinkle was one of the first men to bulldog steers from a motorcycle, an automobile and airplane. While at the 101 Ranch he became acquainted with Bill Pickett and competed with him at various rodeos.

As early as Nov. 29, 1919, Hinkle's colorful career was featured in a Saturday Evening Post story by Courtney Riley Cooper and as late as 1964 he was featured in True magazine.

He performed with several wild west shows and was with the 101 show in London in 1914, just prior to the start of World War 1, when the British government proclaimed and emergency and impressed the horses and equipment of the show into service.

In 1922 Hinkle moved to Kissimmee and started the Silver Spurs Rodeo there. He was active in that field until the late sixties.
